Bac Kan: Testing the model of chicken raising on hills

Center for Agricultural and Forestry Extension in Bac Kan has implemented four models of hilly chicken farming with each model of 1,000 heads / litter, breeding chicken breed is like J-DABACO.

The models, implemented in Cho Moi, Bach Thong and Bac Kan towns, have resulted in high results, opening the direction of economic development of livestock for the people here.

The model is implemented with the aim of exploiting available land and hill conditions under the canopy of fruit trees and forest trees to combine development of chicken husbandry and care of fruit trees and forest trees; gradually change small-scale, small-scale husbandry practices, shift to concentrated farm production in large quantities in the direction of commodity production; apply scientific and technological advances to hill chicken farming in the direction of bio-entire projects, bringing high economic efficiency for farmers.

Participating in the implementation of the model, the farmers were trained by the Center for Agriculture and Forestry Extension in collaboration with the Sub-Department of Animal Health to train chicken J-DABACO; support 50% of the cost of buying chickens and feeds in the first month; 100% of the cost of buying vaccines to prevent diseases, antibiotics and supplements; 100% of the cost of buying antiseptic drugs in the farming cycle.

Through the actual monitoring, all four models of chicken hill farming have been successful in the first place. Livestock farmers have strictly followed the technical guidelines guided, after 90 days of age, raising chickens reached an average weight of nearly 2kg / children and gave income.

Assessing the model, Mr. Do Xuan Viet, Director of the Center affirmed that the model was initially successful with high survival rate and no disease.

Through the model, people have access to the process of raising hens and chickens in large quantities in the direction of biosafety, can apply large-scale breeding, commodity production.
