An Giang successfully completed the chicken ship breeding

Dr. Vo Lam, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (An Giang University) has successfully researched the topic of "high-quality, high-quality local chicken ship restoration".

Deployed from November 2011 to November 2013, the project was carried out in stages: Technical investigation; choose to buy 200 breeds in many localities in Hong Ngu district (Dong Thap province) and Thot Not district (Can Tho city); selection of 120 parent chickens weighing from 1kg - 1.2 kg / head for internal inbred breeding; producing and transferring seeds and coordinating with the provincial Agricultural Extension Center to transfer large quantities of seeds to artificial people for breeding and raising meat.

Dr. Vo Lam said that the successful research results showed that the golden chicken F2 generation has many advantages such as yellow feathers, leaf combs, bright yellow, fragrant, highly nutritious meat and legs.

When raising for meat about three months, the chicken weighs 1.5kg - 1.7kg / head, shortening the farming time to half compared to existing breeds. Due to not being super-egg chickens, on average, each year chickens lay over 200 eggs / animal, if hatched by machines, the hatching rate is over 80%, worth about 80,000 VND - 90,000 VND / kg.

With the first product, in April 2013, the project has transferred 400 children to 4 households with experience in raising biosafety poultry in Chau Phu, Cho Moi, Thoai Son districts and 100 children for the Application Center. science and technology (belonging to An Giang Department of Science and Technology).

Golden chicken chickens have lost their breed in An Giang province for a long time so with the successful research, they will be able to recover the breed of poultry released by the special garden of the Southern region. However, due to the loss of seed in a long time, consumers are easily confused with many existing chicken breeds so the traders have taken advantage of pressing the price to only 50% of the actual value.

In the coming time, An Giang University cooperates with the Agricultural Extension Center to transfer farming techniques and find out the output for breeders.
