Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Trinh, Director of An Giang Aquatic Breeding Center said the center has studied reproduction of coral fish for a long time. Finally the first batch of fish was successfully tested on April 8, 2012, 5,000 fry (juveniles) are developing very well.
Currently, the Center has 100 fish chasing parents, is expected to produce about 100,000 breeding fish in 2012.
Coral fish is one of the aquatic species named in the red book that needs to be protected and developed. However, because this is a new breed, the farming time is prolonged so there are not many farming models in the direction of intensive farming. Therefore, it is necessary to have a specific process of intensive fish culture to shorten the farming time and increase productivity to bring efficiency to farmers.
An Giang Aquatic Breeding Center is the second unit in the West to breed artificial fish. Previously, Fisheries Research Institute II (Tien Giang) also succeeded in artificial breeding and commercial breeding, but the number is still modest.
