12. The Giant Buddha statue at Lingshan Mountain, China - 88m

This bronze statue of Shakyamuni Buddha is one of the largest Buddha statues in China. Completed in late 1996, it stands 88 meters tall and weighs 700 tons. In 2008, the Five Lamp Palace and Brahma Palace were built to the southeast of the Great Buddha to promote tourism at the site.

11. The Golden Buddha Statue, Thailand - 92m

The Golden Buddha, or Phra Buddha Maha Nawamin, is a famous statue at Wat Muang temple. It is the tallest statue in Thailand, construction of which began in 1990 and was completed in 2008. The entire statue is made of concrete and covered in gold paint. The statue depicts the Buddha in a seated position called Maravijaya, and stands 92 meters tall.

This statue was built to commemorate the Russian Emperor Peter I, who reigned for 43 years. The 98-meter-tall statue of Peter the Great faces the Moskva River in Moscow. Designed by Georgian architect Zurab Tsereteli, the statue used 600 tons of stainless steel and bronze. Weighing 100 tons, it was inaugurated in 1997.

Sendai Daikannon is a 100-meter-tall statue located atop a hill in Sendai, Japan. The statue represents a Bodhisattva in Japanese Buddhist culture. In its right hand, the statue holds a jewel to grant wishes, and in its left hand, a vase to pour the water of wisdom. Visitors can take an elevator to the top of the statue and enjoy panoramic views of Sendai city.

8. Rodina Mat Statue (Ukraine) - 106m

Located in Kyiv, Ukraine, the Rodina Mat statue is modeled after a symbol from World War II. This titanium statue, completed in 1981, stands 62 meters tall atop a museum. The entire structure reaches a total height of 102 meters and weighs over 560 tons.

The sculpture depicting the first two emperors of China, Yan Emperor and Huang Emperor, took 20 years to complete and was finished in 2007. The monument, 106 meters tall, is carved into a mountain in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China.

The statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva in Sanya City, Hainan Province, China, stands 108 meters tall and is the fourth tallest statue in the world. The statue has three distinct faces, symbolizing blessings bestowed upon the entire world. One face is turned towards the land, while the other two face the sea. It took nearly six years to complete this colossal statue.

Inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), the 110-meter-tall Cristo-Rei shrine in Portugal was inaugurated in 1959 after 10 years of construction. The Cristo-Rei statue is the same size as its famous counterpart in Rio, standing 28 meters tall, and sits atop another structure reaching 82 meters. At the base of the statue is an observation deck offering panoramic views of Lisbon (Portugal).

The Ushiku Daibutsu Buddha statue is located in Ushiku City, Japan. Completed in 1995, this Buddha statue is the third tallest in the world, with a total height of 120 meters, including the base and lotus pedestal, which are both 10 meters high. Tourists visiting the Ushiku Daibutsu can take an elevator up to the lotus pedestal and enjoy the view from the observation deck.

The Laykyun Setkyar statue, with a total height of 130 meters, is built atop Po Kaung hill near Monywa city, Myanmar. At the foot of this majestic statue is the world's largest reclining Buddha statue. The Laykyun Setkyar statue was completed in 2008, while the reclining Buddha statue was finished in 1991.

The Spring Buddha statue in Henan Province, China, is currently the world's largest statue, standing at 153 meters tall, including a 20-meter-high lotus pedestal and a 25-meter-high building beneath it. Construction of the Spring Buddha began shortly after the Bamiyan Buddha statues in Afghanistan were toppled by Taliban forces. This magnificent monument depicts the Vairocana Buddha and was completed in 2008.
