Bee cuckoo

Scientists have discovered that new bees with unique biological behavior are invading the nest of other bees to lay eggs. This behavior is only seen in the cuckoo, so the newly found bees are also called the cuckoo bees.

The chrysanthemum bee has two colors in black and white and the average size is only 3.2mm. According to Dailymail, they were discovered in the Republic of Cape Verde, which includes 10 offshore islands of about 570km off the coast of West Africa. The study was conducted by Dr. Jakub Straka from Charles University in Prague and Dr. Michael S.Engel of the University of Kansas. Results were published in Zookeys magazine.

The cuckoo bird specializes in the absence of the owner to lay eggs and steal it into the nest of other birds. Cuckoo bees are also the same, they wait for other bees to collect bile and pollen, then sneak into the nest to lay eggs, so that their children can later use the free food that the bees that master the nest must look back to about.

Scientists are still working on a deeper understanding of the evolutionary diversity and branching of the bee.
