Big neck - high risk of heart disease
Even people with slender waistlines still have a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, if they have a large collar, a survey has revealed.
Experts from Framingham Heart Research (USA) surveyed more than 3,300 men and women, the average age is 51. The average circumference of these people is 40.5 cm for men and 34, 2 cm with female.
The team found that the bigger the collar, the higher the risk of heart disease. That's because the necklace is linked to good cholesterol levels in the body. The bigger the collar, the smaller the content.
Accordingly, whenever the necklace increased by nearly 3 cm, men had a cholesterol reduction of 2.2 milligrams per deciliter, and women were 2.7 milligrams.
Explaining this, the group thinks that a fat neck can be a "rough measurement" of the upper half of the body's fat - the type of fat that causes heart damage.
