South Korean Coast Guard confirmed six Chinese fishermen were killed and 9 others were still missing after two fishing vessels were sunk because of strong winds and large waves in the waters near Jeju Island, South Korea's southern pole. CNN quoted the Korean disaster relief agency as saying that another 10 people were killed and two were injured in typhoon accidents on August 29.

Early morning 28/08 Bolaven tropical storm landed on South Korea, predicted to advance north-northeast through Korea and weaken when entering the continent. Earlier, the storm swept across Okinawa, Japan, injuring five people, leaving 17,500 households out of power. The Korean KCNA news agency morning August 29 announced that the country had heavy rain and wind but did not provide information about the damage.

In Korea, the storm disrupted traffic, lost power and destroyed property. On August 29, 34,000 people remained in power outages, the Korean disaster relief agency said. Dozens of flights have been canceled, 100 ferry routes and 27 roads blocked by storms.

Another storm called Tembin landed in southern Taiwan a few days ago, heading for the Korean peninsula. Despite the strength not equal to Bolaven's, Tembin is expected to cause more rain to this area starting from the evening of August 29.
