Blue Moon appeared in Phu Yen on New Year's Eve

By Western definition, "Blue Moon" is the second full moon night in a calendar month, a phenomenon with an average frequency of about two and a half years.

The second full moon phenomenon in the solar month is no different from any other full moon, however, the moon can change color under certain conditions.

In December 2009 there were two full moon on the 2nd and 31st days. The Blue Moon appeared right on the New Year's Eve is a rare event.

The most recent occurrence of the Blue Moon on New Year's Eve is in 1990 and astronaut David Reneke works for the Ocean Science Journal to predict that this overlap will only be repeated in 2028./.
