California moved south

Strong seismic activity in the southwestern United States two months ago caused the entire California border to move 80 centimeters.

AP said the earthquake named El Mayor-Cucapah, which occurred in April, has a magnitude of 7.2 Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake is about 52 km southwest of Calexico, California. This is the strongest earthquake in the southwestern United States for nearly 120 years.

Radar images of the US Aerospace Agency (NASA) show the city of Calexico, located near the US-Mexico border, moving 80 cm south and sinking.

This is not the first time a city has moved because of an earthquake. The 8.8-magnitude seismic attack hit Chile a few months ago, moving the city of Concepcion at least 3 meters west. In 1989, the magnitude 6.9 earthquake named Loma Prieta in southern California caused the Pacific tectonic plate to move about 2 meters northwest.

Earthquakes and displacement of milling lines (fault lines) cause our planetary crust to change constantly. San Andreas milling movement caused the city of San Francisco, California, USA to advance toward Los Angeles at a rate of about 5 cm per year. These two cities will touch each other for several million years.

Strong earthquakes can also change the Earth's axis, making the length of the day change. For example, the terrible earthquake in Chile makes the length of the day decrease by 1.26 millionths of a second.
