The chairman of Royal Grou p, Kith Meng, said that the whole ASEAN region would benefit from Cambodia's No. 1 satellite project, since the member states could hire satellite services from Cambodia to promote accelerate other economic projects in the region.

Royal Group said Cambodia's No. 1 satellite launch project will be carried out by the group's subsidiary Royal Blue Skies after receiving the Cambodia Post and Telecommunications franchise.
Royal Group Chief Financial Officer Mark Hanna said inter-national business activities are part of the overall goal of the satellite launch plan. He said that in the future, the demand for bandwidth in Asia is huge, stemming from the demand for HD television and Internet.
Under the plan, Royal Group will sell satellite services to the Cambodian market first, then will offer these services in markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and other ASEAN countries.
Currently in Southeast Asia, Thailand and Vietnam have their own satellites, while Laos is also planning to launch telecommunications satellites.
