Van Xuong satellite launch center was built in 2009 and designed to launch new generation missiles as well as space station modules.

Located on the coast of Hainan, 60km from Haikou, this center is China's first coastal satellite launch base.

The Van Xuong Center will be used to launch the Truong Chinh 5 heavy missile, which China is researching and manufacturing, and other transport missiles that are planning to study, while primarily undertaking the launch mission. space equipment such as geostationary satellites, large space stations .

To date, satellite launch centers commonly used in China are the Liuquan Satellite Launching Center in the Gobi Desert, two other centers in Taiyuan, Shaanxi Province and Xichang, Sichuan Province.

Experts say the satellites launched from Van Xuong station will save about 15% of the fuel consumed in rockets compared to launching from the Tay Xuong Center and thus can extend the life of the satellite.

According to Long Yue Hao, an expert at the Chinese Institute of Civil Engineering, Van Xuong Satellite Launching Center will play an important role in bringing people to explore the Moon in the future.
