Can shoot down unmanned aircraft with sound

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have long been extremely dangerous weapons with military reconnaissance and lightning attack capabilities but are difficult to detect. However, new research by Korean scientists said sound waves are capable of attacking UAVs, according to Daily News New York (USA) on 10.8.

Unmanned aircraft can be shot down by sound

In the title report: 'Shoot down unmanned aerial drones with sound-based sound' , scientists at the Korea High Science and Technology Academy (KASR) describe how they gather sound with resonant frequency spoil the drone's gyroscope.

Some unmanned gyroscopes have resonant frequencies at both the normal sound range and ultrasound that make them susceptible to interference because of intentional sound interference.

And as a result of the 20 trials, the researchers have immobilized the unmanned aircraft at a rate of 50%, causing them to be disoriented by the impact on the gyroscope.

The report also said that most of the unmanned devices currently on the market are not equipped with any devices that can protect them from such attacks.

In the experiment described in the report, the researchers attached a small Bluetooth speaker and audio amplifier to create an attack sound source, so that the way the gyroscope shifted its target by about 10 centimeters. They controlled the sound emitted by a laptop nearby connecting to wifi.

They then added another speaker to extend the sound attack experiment for another 10 seconds. Researchers have succeeded in disrupting flights.

However, in fact, the sound arrangement to attack is not easy.

Researchers have confirmed that disabling the unmanned aircraft is perfectly feasible, but it takes more time to find out the required attack distance or the level of sound emitted more stable.
