Cancellation of pesticides in cement kilns

Recently, the Institute of Plant Protection conducted an inventory of 25 tons of plant protection drugs (pesticides) in three drug stores in the provinces of Hai Phong, Ha Tay (old) and Ha Tinh.

In order to deal with the number of pesticides with dangerous residues, the Plant Protection Institute in conjunction with Holcim Vietnam Co., Ltd. destroyed drugs with cement kiln technology. This is a specialized kiln of Holcim company in the destruction of pesticides.

Initial test results showed that the kiln has very good conditions for decomposing pesticides residues as well as minimizing toxic gases emitted during the burning process, especially dioxins and furans.

Up to now, the country has about 1,153 chemical residues. The Department of Waste Management and Environmental Improvement (General Department of Environment) has classified 240 chemical spots on the list of causing serious environmental pollution and especially serious. Besides, there are 95 points at the " polluting " level.

Nghe An is the locality with the most dangerous persistence points - 190 points. Ha Tinh has 8 points; Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh 7 points.

A special feature of this cement kiln is that the kiln temperature always reaches over 1800 degrees Celsius, decomposing pesticides in alkaline environment, with fast air cooling system to avoid high temperature easily forming dioxins (200 - 450 degrees C), long airflow time. Destruction efficiency reaches over 99.99%.

According to Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Lam, Deputy Director of the Center for Environmental Technology Consultancy, under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, because this type of furnace has a long retention time (from 6 to 10 seconds), the substances The toxic waste will be much more decomposed than in normal crematoriums (only takes 2 seconds).

In the world, there are many technologies to destroy pesticides left by many different technologies, however, the technology to destroy pesticides with cement kilns has provided an additional opportunity for handling different kinds of chemicals. The substance is easily biodegradable.
