At the meeting with leaders of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee and representatives of relevant departments and agencies of the province, Mr. Owada Norio introduced CAS technology (short for Cells Alive System, meaning structures Active cells , also known as cell preservation technology , are researched and developed by ABI.

This is an advanced cryopreservation technology, always kept at cold temperatures of -35 degrees Celsius or higher but still does not break the membranes and cell walls, maintaining important elements that make up the flavor in food, thus helping food to be better preserved, keeping its taste and freshness longer than traditional frozen technology.

Using CAS technology to help ensure almost absolute freshness, delicious, food hygiene and safety for many types of agricultural products and food with a shelf life of up to 1 year, even 10 years.

Currently, this technology has been widely applied not only in the agricultural product processing industry but also in the livestock industry, the medical industry .

According to Mr. Norada Norio, this technology can completely be applied to help preserve, process, improve the quality of lychee fruit as well as other vegetables and fruits, which have a large annual output and are potential. strength and strength of Bac Giang province.

Using CAS technology will help preserve lychee fruit in 1-3 years time while ensuring almost all products retain the freshness. This technology can be used to process fabric jam and other processed products from lychee fruit, contributing to improving the value and expanding consumer markets for Bac Giang thieu litchi.

In addition, CAS technology can also be used in preserving, processing, improving the value of other vegetables and fruits, livestock products such as pigs, chickens, aquatic products . of Bac Giang province.

Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Hanh said Bac Giang is the locality with the largest lychee production area in the country. In 2012, the total area of ​​cloth was more than 30,000 hectares, the output reached over 120,000 tons.

However, lychee has a high seasonality, high yield, short harvest time, so it is difficult for preservation and post-harvest processing.

The province also has an area of ​​more than 20,000 ha producing vegetables of all kinds every year, with the fifth largest pig herd in the country and the third in the country.

Therefore, the province has a great demand for preservation, processing and consumption of the above products in order to improve production value and increase income for farmers.

Mr. Hanh hopes that in the coming time (in the immediate future of litchi in 2013), the province will coordinate with the Ministry of Science and Technology, ABI to build a transfer model and successfully apply CAS technology in preservation. and processing thieu litchi, which can be replicated, applied in preservation, processing and raising the value for many other agricultural products of the province.
