Application of mobile technology helps increase the productivity of mushroom cultivation by 30%

On September 29, An Giang Farmers' Association, Happel Foundation (Germany) and An Giang University held a seminar on "Applying intelligent control technology and mobile communication to agriculture".

Mobile application helps increase mushroom productivity

The workshop aimed at reporting the results of phase 1 of the project "Applying mobile technology to agriculture" , discussing the topics of applying intelligent control technology, communication tools in agricultural activities.

The project is implemented by Happel Institute Office (Germany), An Giang Farmers' Association in collaboration with An Giang University. The aim of the project is to guide farmers to use technology in efficient agricultural production to increase labor productivity and reduce costs.

After nearly 6 months of implementing phase 1 (from March-August 2015), the project has completed the process of surveying, installing and testing the irrigation control system at Happel mushroom farm at the University. An Giang and automatic feeding system on 2 farms in An Giang province.

Preliminary results show that the system helps control temperature, better humidity, good productivity, thereby reducing labor costs, saving capital for reinvestment.

Through the seminar, the Project Management Board aims to disseminate and improve advanced and modern applications of scientific and technical equipment and mobile communication tools to suit each farmer object. helping farmers improve agricultural productivity not only in An Giang province but also scale up all over the country.

Dr. Ngo Huy Liem - Representative of Happel Scholarship Fund said the project ' Applying mobile technology to agriculture' is based on the development of mobile control technology and internet connection, to support farmers. improve labor performance, reduce labor costs (especially for women) towards a strong and sustainable development.

Mr. Dang Hoai Linh - Head of Happel mushroom farm at An Giang University said that the preliminary results of the project are good governance of factors affecting the cultivation of mushrooms; improve mushroom yield by 30%; reduce labor costs, save time; improve product quality.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Liet - Chairman of Fruit Fruit Cooperative under VietGAP model in Binh Phuoc Xuan commune, Cho Moi district, An Giang province said, he is interested in the project because it helps to manage science more, improve fruit yield, comply with safety standards.

However, Mr. Liet's concern is that with the management scale of the cooperative having 1,200ha of fruit trees, equivalent to the size of the farm, the application of intelligent control technology and mobile communication into agriculture materials are appropriate.

He said he will continue to research and find ways to apply as soon as possible.
