Catch a shark with a body like a snake, a mouth of 300 teeth
Scientists working in the Algarve coast, Portugal, were recently surprised to catch a shark that existed from prehistoric times.
According to Daily Mail, this frightening creature is also known as crested shark. They swam across the ocean 80 million years ago and are one of the oldest creatures in the world.
Crested sharks are likened to "monsters" because of their strange shape, with up to 300 teeth.
The shark only lives close to the ocean floor, has a snake-like body and has up to 300 sharp teeth.
Scientists from Portugal's Marine and Atmospheric Research Institute say they have caught this rare shark while working on the project 'Minimize unwanted fishing in commercial fishing'.
Crested sharks have a snake-like body.
The male crested shark that the researchers caught at a depth of 700 meters and a length of 1.5 meters. Scientists call this amazing discovery like 'living fossils'.
Similar 'monster' sharks that once lived in the Cretaceous are Tyrannosaurus Rex and many other dinosaurs.
Professor Margarida Castro from Algave University, Portugal, says the jaw's jaws have up to 300 teeth, making it easy to trap squid, fish and even other sharks.
Crested sharks live in deep seabeds and rarely encounter humans.
Due to the snake-like movement, some believe that crested sharks are the source of ancient stories about sea monsters.
Crested sharks rarely encounter humans and they often do not survive the journey to the laboratory.
This is not the first time humans have caught this rare 'monster' shark. In December last year, fishermen in Russia caught crested sharks and posted images on Twitter.
