Catching an unusual 2-color lobster in America
The captain of an American fishing vessel was extremely surprised when he caught a lobster whose body was like that from two other half-colored.

Ben Murdock, 30, captain of Arielle Hope fishing vessel, caught an unusual lobster near Monhegan island in Maine, USA. What attracts people's attention is that the lobster's body seems to be "dyed" two colors separately, though not completely symmetrical.
According to the photographs, the lobster's abdomen looks like two other dark-colored, bright body pieces grafted together. While on the back, dark dark colors dominate.
The lobster weighs about 12.7kg, but according to US law, its body length is too short to catch. So, in order not to break the law, Mr. Murdock released the lobster back to the sea.
Diane Cowan, executive director of the Lobster Conservation Authority in Maine, said it is difficult to say exactly how rare this lobster is. Last year, Bangor daily quoted representatives of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute as saying that the proportion of lobster with two body colors is only about 1/50 million. However, according to Mrs. Cowan, this is purely a guess.
