A new study found that cats can only remember certain information within 10 minutes. The original study was to compare the cat's action memory with visual memory and to find cats to remember by body better than by eyes, when they meet an object on the road.

When a cat walks over a toy or shoe placed at the door on the way to the plate, it must coordinate the steps of both hind and front legs.

(Photo: Reuters) "Animals, like humans, unconsciously remember the location of objects according to their correspondence with their bodies when they walk, this memory depends largely on the signals involved. to body movement, " said Keir Pearson of the University of Alberta, Canada.

Although researchers have known this, they still wonder how cats remember correctly to lift their hind legs after the front leg has avoided an obstacle.

In order to understand the combination of cats, researchers investigated how long they could remember what they had just stepped past a barrier. They stopped the cat when the front leg had stepped over the obstacle, but the hind legs had not yet stepped forward.

Next they distract the cat with food and shift obstacles to see how the animal reacts. The cat remembers walking through the obstruction for at least 10 minutes, raising the back leg to avoid objects, even if it is no longer there.

In order to compare the memory activity of cats with visual memory, they repeated the experiment but this time stopped the cat as soon as they were about to lift the front leg through the obstacle. The results showed that after just a few seconds, the cat could not remember what they had seen but did not make it: when the object was removed, the cat forgot that it was there and continued on.

Research on horses and dogs also gives similar results. This memory plays a role in the ability of people to locate objects in the dark or remember where they left their cars in the parking lot in the morning. By walking from the garage to the office, you reinforced the memory of the car's position in the brain and did not take half an hour to find it.
