China: 360 people died in the rainy season

Chinese authorities say flooding and landslides in recent weeks have killed at least 360 people, most of them in the Gia Lang river valley (Xiuyen province), and caused billions of dollars in material damage.

In the central and southern provinces, natural disasters caused more than 60 million people affected and about 200,000 houses to be completely or partially destroyed.

Floods also caused about 2 million hectares of crops to be completely damaged. Meanwhile in Hunan Province, millions of rats who lost their place due to floods have " invaded " human land, raging everywhere, raising fears of outbreaks.

According to Xinhua news agency , local people had to use their hands, sticks, shovels and rat poison to kill this dangerous animal and killed more than 2.3 million. However, in Lujiao town, at least 1,000 cats died due to eating poisoned mice.

The Chinese government pledged to help the most affected people and sent many groups of soldiers to participate in the rescue, embankment and reinforcement of flood protection. It is predicted that the rain will last longer while the rainy season will end in a few months.

Earlier this year, the Chinese government warned that climate change would make this year's weather situation more harsh than the past decade. According to the China Meteorological Agency, last year, storms and floods left about 2,704 people dead.
