The first rainy season was flooded
On May 14, the first rainy season, though small but lasting all day, caused landslides and flooding in many places in Ho Chi Minh City. Many roads flooded half a meter or more, people had to warn or ' block a pit ' in the water to keep people from collapsing.
Rain . sprung iron door!
Around 8 am 14-5, after the rain lasted about 30 minutes, water from Ba Bo drainage canal in Binh Chieu Ward, Thu Duc District began to rise and quickly flooded people's houses along the canal. this.
Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Minh, a resident of the area, said water from the drainage canal was so loudly that the iron door opened when people closed. Many households have to scavenge and move their belongings to higher places. Due to the amount of waste water from Song Than and Dong An industrial parks (Binh Duong) pouring in with the rain water is too big while this drainage channel is overloaded so the water cannot escape in time.
Not only that, the diameter of the sewer section connecting Ba Bo canal crossing the provincial road 43 is too small, the water flowing upstream from here is stagnant and overflowing on the road surface, causing nearly half of the wheels to die. . Fast-flowing water also makes a road nearly 5m long (eating deep in the road nearly 2m) at the culvert mouth on the provincial road 43 is landslide, the road surface shows signs of subsidence.

By the afternoon of the same day, Binh Chieu ward's residents had to block the landslide area with iron fences and guide traffic through this area. However, no professional agency has yet to assess the level of danger and reinforce this landslide. Water from Ba Bo canal is also overflowing, flooding nearly hundreds of households of street groups 17E, 17F, 17C and eroding 30-50cm of deep alleys in this area. At 16 o'clock in these alleys, the water has not been withdrawn.
At about 15g, on the route To Ngoc Van, Binh Chieu, Le Thi Hoa is still flooded 20-30cm deep. Ms. Tran Thi Mien, a resident on To Ngoc Van Street, said the rain was not large but because the area was low, the sewer was small so it was flooded for a long time. Also in the morning, traffic was congested on this road due to flooding about 50-60cm.
No way out!
Phan Huy Ich road section in Ward 15, Tan Binh District (before Tuong An Oil Plant) also submerged about 30cm deep, causing many vehicles to be shutdown. Along the manholes along the road, wastewater from under the sewer erupted with a strong stench.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thieu, a villager, said: 'For more than three years, people along this road have suffered a lot of troubles because of flooding. Traffic accidents occur continuously. Although this route is near Hi Vong canal and Tham Luong canal, it is flooded every rainy season. '
Located about 40m from the flooded point, the Hi Vong canal was covered with garbage. Ms. Thanh Nguyen, a house next to Hi Vong canal, said: 'Previously, along Phan Huy Ich road, there were many fields, so it was rarely flooded. So far because of urbanization, flood water has no way out. Only the drainage system to Hi Vong canal and Tham Luong canal is still not allowed to make full use of. ' In Tan Phu district, the recent rains have also flooded many roads such as Luy Ban Bich, Binh Long, Van Cao, Nguyen Van Xao ., there are places deep in 20-40cm.

Highway is also flooded
On National Highway 1A, there is a section about 50m long near Suoi Cai Bridge (Q.12), water is flooded to the halfway because there is no sewer. At Phan Van Hon road (District 12), the drainage system is also heavily flooded, some places are deep in about 0.5m. Many people have to drive on two sidewalks but still die. Mr. Nguyen Huy Hai, living on this road, annoyed: 'Along the road like a dirty river, on both sides of the sidewalk, there is a pit. Many ditches along this road are flooded into rainfalls.
And the group of young people riding motorbike on this road said that in the past heavy rains, flooded roads have occurred at least 10 traffic accidents every day. Along the road there are many old holes, sewers, so people have to put up signboards to limit traffic accidents.
In the morning, Le Duc Tho Street (P.13, Go Vap District) flooded many sections, of which the road near Truong Dai Bridge was over 30cm. Many motorcyclists ride through deep flooded roads, causing the engine to switch off to push the cart. Flooded water is heavy because most of this road has no sewer.
Also in the area of Nguyen Thai Son Street, Ward 3, although the rain has lessened, but from noon to afternoon of the same day, the water can only partially withdraw, the middle of the road is still about half of the wheel, the remaining two roads (the road contiguous to people's sidewalks) many black water sections like stagnant sewage into large pools.
More than 85 points flooded
Mr. Le Toan - deputy director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation and Public Works - said: 'In order to solve flooding in this rainy season, the City Department of Transport has directed functional units to dredge all sewers in the area. . At the same time, the department also asked to dredge some canals to limit flooding and prevent flooding. '
The city has 85 flooded points recorded last year (not to mention new points).Currently, there are some roads that are flooded because there is no sewer system on the road, so when there is rain, there is stagnant water.
In order to solve heavy flooding in areas, the city has been implementing large drainage projects. The City People's Committee has entrusted the Institute of Economics, Department of Public Works and related agencies to study the drainage situation of Ho Chi Minh City and some neighboring provinces to propose solutions to flooding due to the discharge of hydropower plants. also related to drainage in TP.
