Chen Bangzhu, chairman of China 's Committee for Population, Natural Resources and Environment, said that most of the rivers in China are currently threatened with shrinking and pollution. There are also other issues such as the decline of marshes.

This situation is continuing to worsen the river, which is caused by the booming economy, population growth and unreasonable growth. Other causes are due to the lack of laws and unreasonable supervision of related departments. Without scientific guidelines, some rivers were polluted due to the illegal discharge of waste water and fertilizer abuse. Consequently, the lack of clean water and floods and droughts often occur.

In China, inland lakes are a very important resource. For example, Lake Tai in Jiangxi Province is rich in rice and fish, contributing to 3% of China's population.
