China is about to send pandas to Japan
China may send a pair of pandas to the zoo in the Japanese tsunami-affected area as a gift for children here.

The idea of sending pandas to Japan stems from the meeting between Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and a Japanese girl, when he visited Miyagi Prefecture in late May. After the visit, she wrote to Wen said that he loves pandas and often goes to the zoo to watch them during his travels. Wen then sent a letter inviting her to China.
The tsunami-ravaged city of Sendai said it had contacted the Chinese ambassador about bringing pandas to the city's Yagiyama zoo. Japan said China had received a proposal to hire two pandas and was in the process of reviewing and waiting for approval from the authorities. The Japanese government said it would support the zoo if necessary.
Mr. Zhang Hemin, managing director of Wolong Natural Conservation Bureau, a supplier of pandas abroad in Sichuan Province, China, said the animal could live safely and unaffected by radiation. from Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant. "The panda will be safe if everyone is safe there , " he said.
According to China Daily , Chinese experts will check panda accommodation before bringing them to Japan. They will also go with the pandas to ensure their health. China donated a pair of pandas to Japan in 1972 to commemorate the normalization of bilateral relations. In 2000, Japan hired two Chinese pandas for the quake-hit city zoo that destroyed Kobe. China is currently renting 9 pairs of pandas to countries.
