Red tide is the common name for the phenomenon of blooms of seaweed blooms, occurring at the mouth of the river, the surface of the sea rapidly accumulates flower pillars caused by seaweed.

This is the first red tide discovered in the East Sea and Yellow Sea. SOA indicates that red tide is caused by flowers of Noctiluca scintillan.
SOA said they still use satellite remote sensing technology, combined with patrol boats and helicopters to track any changes in red tide.
Algae can attach to fish and cause fish to suffocate. The density of algae increases when salt concentration in sea water and sea temperature increases. The number of algae outbreaks can cause damage to the fishing and aquaculture industry.
Toxins can enter the food chain, accumulating in fish and shellfish. People who eat these contaminated seafood suffer from various types of poisoning. However, not every red tide is toxic.
