Deputy Director of the Institute of Meteorological Sciences in Thanh Hai province, Mr. Chu Binh Vinh said that scientists have monitored the changes in lake surface area since 2001, the time when the lake area was reduced due to the influence of love. climate change and human impacts.

The measurement results are published twice a year by scientists, during and after the flood season in July and September.

According to Mr. Chu Binh Vinh, since 2005, thanks to heavy rain and environmental protection activities such as increasing grassland area, reducing the area of arable land to preserve plants and highland forests, the amount of water poured into The lake has increased significantly.

Especially in this summer, the average rainfall in this area is quite high, nearly double compared to 2011.

The result of an official survey showed that in 2008, the area of the lake reached 4,317 km 2 , an increase of 132 km 2 compared to 2004.

The Qinghai Lake is located in the Qinghai - Tibet plateau, which has been shrinking since the 50s of the last century, but is now gradually restored thanks to human protection efforts.
