China 'unveils' 504 qubit superconducting quantum computer
On December 5, China launched a superconducting quantum computer.
On December 5, China launched the "Tianyan-504" superconducting quantum computer equipped with a 504-qubit "Xiaohong" chip, marking a milestone in the country's quantum computing field.
The Tianyan-504 computer is equipped with a quantum computing chip with a capacity of up to 504 qubits.
The quantum computer was jointly developed by China Quantum Telecommunications Corporation (CTQG), the Center for Quantum Physics and Information of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and China's leading quantum company QuantumCTek.
According to CTQG, the Tianyan-504 computer is equipped with a quantum computing chip with a capacity of up to 504 qubits and promises to be on par with the performance of international quantum computing platforms such as IBM in terms of quantum bit (qubit) operation time, reading fidelity and other important aspects. This quantum computer will be integrated into the "Tianyan" quantum computing cloud platform for users around the world to access.
Since its launch in November 2023, China Telecom's Tianyan quantum computing cloud platform has had more than 12 million visits from more than 50 countries, providing convenient and simple quantum computing services to global users.
Established in May 2023 in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, CTQG is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Telecom, focusing on research and development of quantum technology.
