Chinese physics prodigy made Harvard University break 300 years of practice
Chinese physics prodigy Doan Hy with exceptionally outstanding achievements forced Harvard University in the US to break its 300-year-old practice to retain him.
Doan Hy was born in 1983 in an intellectual family in Beijing (China). From a young age, Doan Hy showed extraordinary learning talent, at the age of 5, he memorized 300 Tang poems. Realizing their son's special abilities, his parents spent time tutoring him before entering first grade.
Doan Hy surprised many people with his outstanding ability to absorb new knowledge and flexible application skills. In elementary school, Doan Hy was given a special promotion by the school to grade 3. It only took Doan Hy a few days to complete the entire elementary school program.

Doan Hy never takes notes in class. When asked by the teacher why, Doan Hy honestly replied: "I have memorized all the knowledge in my head."
At first, the teacher did not believe that the student could remember the entire lecture, so he asked to rewrite the lesson on paper and Doan Hy quickly convinced him.
Even though they knew their son was talented, his parents were still surprised by what Doan Hy showed. They took their son for an IQ test. As a result, Doan Hy has an IQ of 200 , belonging to a group of people with extremely high intelligence.
At the age of 9, while her friends were still scratching their heads over 4th grade math problems, Doan Hy passed the entrance exam to Beijing Middle School No. 8, where elite students of the Capital are trained, becoming a youngest student in school history.
All students in the experimental class have high IQ scores, Doan Hy still stands out the most and self-study the entire secondary school program in a short time.
In 1996, at the age of 10, Doan Hy made a bold decision to take the Gaokao - a university exam in China and famous for being the toughest exam in the world. Some people admire him, some criticize him for being arrogant, Doan Hy's parents still believe in their son's abilities.
Not disappointing his family's wishes, Doan Hy scored 572/700 on the Gaokao exam and was accepted into the University of Science and Technology of China, becoming the youngest student at the school.
Doan Hy is always the first to leave the dormitory and the last to return. When there are no classes, male students often spend time at the library, reading books to improve their knowledge and explore the wide world. Doan Hy received scholarships at school many times to everyone's admiration.
Besides studying, Doan Hy also works hard at sports. Living and studying among a group of older siblings, he is always sociable, actively participates in common activities and is able to handle relationships skillfully. Thanks to that, Doan Hy is loved by his teachers and friends.
Harvard University broke the law
Five years passed quickly and Doan Hy graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China. In the same year, he was awarded a full scholarship by the prestigious Harvard University in the US to study straight for a doctorate.

Harvard University is a gathering place for outstanding talents from all over the world. When she first came here, Doan Hy was still the youngest student in the whole school, so she was looked down upon by many teachers and friends. However, he was not discouraged.
In the first test, Doan Hy only got an average score, something he had never experienced. Doan Hy realized the gap between herself and others and a feeling of failure welled up in her heart.
The saying "failure is the mother of success" has motivated Doan Hy to try harder. After a period of effort, the Chinese genius regained the top position in the class. However, he did not become arrogant because of that, but on the contrary, he became more cautious and studied harder.
And after only 6 years, Doan Hy successfully received a doctorate in physics from Harvard University. According to the school's more than 300-year tradition, graduate students after receiving their doctorate will not be allowed to continue to study in the post-doctoral program. However, because Doan Hy was so outstanding, the prestigious school decided to break the rules to retain this genius.
In 2008, when he was only 24 years old, Doan Hy was invited to be an assistant professor at Harvard University's Department of Physics. 7 years later, he was promoted to professor of Physics Department and became the youngest Chinese professor in the school's history.
While working at Harvard University, Doan Hy came into contact with leading physics experts, thereby generating new research ideas. Over time, Doan Hy's reputation in the American physics community became more and more widespread. At that time, he was considered one of the most desirable young physicists.
In contrast to his success in the US, Chinese public opinion does not favor Doan Hy, and is often the subject of discussion and criticism. The reason is because before going to America, Doan Hy said that after finishing school he would return to his homeland to contribute, but he settled in America and has a happy family.
In an interview with The Paper , when asked why he did not return to his homeland to develop his career, Doan Hy expressed that the research environment in the US is more suitable for orientation and development .
