Clean water tower

This device looks like a beautiful flower basket made of bamboo, 9.2m high. It is used to capture and supply clean water to underdeveloped areas.

This is the product of an Italian inventor. It uses a special material to condense water vapor in the air, with the desire to efficiently supply clean water to African villages.

The father of the device, designer Arturo Vittori told Wired magazine that the water tower is designed to provide clean water as well as ensure environmental, financial and social sustainability. The unique feature of this 9m-tall bamboo tower is that in the construction process, it is possible to train skills and transfer to local people. Then these people will teach the other villagers to continue developing other water towers.

Each water collection tower costs about 550 USD, takes about 1 week to complete, needs 4 workers and uses available materials locally. Daily Mail quoted designers as saying the water tower was used for areas that could not dig wells. Initially this project was formed for mountainous regions in Ethiopia, where women and children took several hours to walk to get water.

The water tower has a light structure, can be made by itself and transfer parts from one place to another to assemble together, without using any special equipment. Its stable triangular frame is made by connecting with natural bamboo or fiber, plastic fiber or metal wire. Inside there is a special cloth capable of absorbing fresh water from the air, condensing and extracting it.
