Cocaine in the air

Scientists from Italy's National Research Council said on Sunday that cocaine, marijuana, caffeine and tobacco were detected in the air in Rome. According to them, the concentration of narcotics is most concentrated in the area around Sapienza University.

According to Reuters, scientists took samples in Rome, the city of Taranto in southern Italy and in the Algerian capital of Algeria to study. Nicotine and caffeine are found in all three cities, but drugs are only found in Rome.

The density of cocaine in the air in Rome is only 0.1 nanograms / cubic meter (1 nanogram = 1 part per gram of grams) at peak times during the winter months. But that is also a concern for public health. According to Dr. A.Cecinato, this is the first study in the world about the existence of cocaine in the air.
