Color chart decoding emotions
A new study has shown that when we have different emotions, how the body follows it.
>>> The strange effect of emotions on the body
'We often think of emotions as something that only happens in the mind, but there is a lot of evidence that they also happen in our bodies,' Business Insider quoted the author as lead researcher Lauri. Nummenmaa, Faculty of Science at Aalto University, Finland. The work is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The study was based on five experiments involving 701 participants. They were shown two body shadows simultaneously with words, stories, films that created emotions or facial expressions. They were then asked to color the areas of the body that they felt increased or decreased when looking at each type of stimulus. The result is the chart above.
'This diagram depicts the most accurate so far about subjective emotions related to body sensation , ' Nummenmaa said. Charts showing emotions related to access such as anger and love show that activity increases on the arms (and decreases in the feet), while emotions related to avoid such as sadness and Anxiety shows that those areas are not working. Accordingly, happiness and depression activated highest.
Color drawings of basic emotions (above) and non-basic (below). The activated areas increase (hot color) or decrease (cool colors) when feeling each emotion.Color columns indicate statistical scope.Above, from the left: anger - fear - aversion - happiness - sadness - surprise - neutral.Bottom: anxiety - love - depression - contempt - pride - shame - desire.
The authors argue that each individual body sensory chart represents universal biological reactions because these charts are unified based on experiments, including Western European and East Asian models. 'Our data show that different emotional-related body sensations are very specific; theoretically they can contribute significantly to the sense of sense of the corresponding emotion , ' said Nummenmaa.
Through the results, the authors conclude that our understanding of the changes triggered in the body 'can play an important role'. That means not only deliberate actions (such as focusing on breaths or smiles) can create corresponding emotions in the body, but awareness of systemic emotional reactions also affects the state. Our psychology.
An understanding of the body-minded role can be used to deal with strong emotions. It is also consistent with the words of the Tibetan master Yongey Mingyur Rinpoch: 'A more constructive approach to negative emotions, is similar to negative thoughts, simply to let your attention stop on your own emotions instead of on the object. Just look at emotions without trying to find ways to analyze them with reason. Don't accept emotions and don't stop it. Just watch it. When you do that, emotions don't seem to be as big or as strong as they were in the beginning. '
Just as Professor Myrna Weissman was quoted by Reuters when discussing the effects of spirituality: 'The brain is an extraordinary organ. It is not only controlled, but also controlled by our moods. '
