Compose a lie message that takes more time

Most people lie. A new study finds that it will take longer to respond to messages when it is intended to create a lie.

Whether it is a one-time, occasional or daily affair, lying seems sometimes to be the best way to make things smooth. According to researchers from Brigham Young University, messages (SMS) contain lies that take more time to draft and are often shorter than true messages.

Although equipped with the most complete knowledge, people still appear to be inferior in identifying deceit . The team found that, thanks to sample measurement methods, they could surmise fraudulent SMSs more accurately.

According to the research report published in ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems , the authors reviewed 100 subjects who answered 30 questions in the form of text messaging. Before the study began, volunteers were asked to lie about half of their answers. The results showed that they took an extra 10% of the time to draft deceitful answers and then took more time to edit them.

Experts say people can only tell lies in 54% of the time. And we are even worse in communication, like writing messages, when people cannot observe each other.

Of course, there are many reasons why people can't reply to SMS immediately, but lying is definitely one of them. Delayed response may also be caused by unsolicited SMS owners.
