Con Dao National Park became the 6th Ramsar area of ​​Vietnam

On September 11, Ba Ria-Vung Tau People's Committee agreed to hold a ceremony to receive the Certificate of Con Dao National Park as the Ramsar (an important wetland of international importance) on the 1st. / 11/2014 at Con Dao Cultural and Sports Center.

The ceremony to receive, besides the ceremony, there are many other activities such as visiting Hang Duong cemetery, visiting Con Dao National Park, releasing baby turtles to the sea, propagating and raising awareness for the community about Ramsar Convention and the values ​​that Ramsar will bring . to promote the image of Con Dao, attract tourists and researchers to Con Dao and to promote the participation of local communities and stakeholders process of management, conservation and development of wetland Con Dao National Park.

Con Dao National Park currently has 14,000 hectares of wetlands, of which about 2,113ha are coastal saline wetlands, including shallow bays at low tide, coastal areas and coastal areas with rocks, sand and gravel. areas with mangrove forests.

In early 2014, the World Ramsar Secretariat recognized the Con Dao National Park as one of 2,203 international important wetlands (Wetlands of International Importance).

Up to now, Con Dao National Park is an important wetland area (referred to as the 6th Ramsar site) of Vietnam. Con Dao National Park converges all 4 unique and rare forest and sea ecosystems in the world.
