The goal of the program is to conserve and sustainably develop wetlands in Vietnam for socio-economic development, poverty reduction, as well as biodiversity conservation and environmental protection.
Participating organizations developed a program based on actual conditions in all three regions, the coastal region of the Red River Delta, the central coastal region and the Saigon and Mekong River deltas.
The program provides a general plan to harmonize international support for wetland management in our country and to promote the sharing of experiences between current initiatives with ongoing projects and projects in the plan for coastal zone management and cross-sections of river basins.
Vietnam became the first Asian country to ratify the International Convention on Wetlands - Ramsar Convention. Therefore, this program has an important meaning to support the Government in implementing the National Action Program on Wetlands.
The program is supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands Kingdom in Hanoi.
