Control the device by ... grinding teeth

Researchers at Osaka University (Japan) have successfully created communication devices between people and machines through grinding teeth. This system can be used for people who are not capable of limb movement.

The device operates via a simple small switch system based on infrared sensors to detect temporal movements.

Teeth grinding will create the movement of the temples, from which the device will determine the control signal. Equipment can also distinguish between grinding and state when eating or talking.

We have successfully managed to turn off or open the CD player. Based on this control technique, they can develop a wheelchair control system by grinding teeth.

In the future, the research team hopes to continue researching control of various functions on the player as well as checking email on mobile phones before connecting control to the more complex system.
