'Decode' the deadliest island on Earth, no one dares to enter

Vozrozhdeniya became the deadliest island on Earth after the appearance of tons of deadly diseases like anthrax, as well as other strange diseases.

In the sea between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstɑn there is a deadly island called Vozrozhdeniya, which means "rebirth" in Russian, but is a dead wasteland.

The island of Vozrozhdeniya today is filled with sand and extremely toxic chemicals. The Soviet-era biological weapons research and testing project is said to be the mastermind behind turning this once bustling fishing village into one of the deadliest lands in the world.

Back when the Aral Sea was still a body of water, Vozrozhdeniya was an isolated enclave that the Soviets called Aralsk-7. It was so isolated that it was not even known to humans until the 19th century. It does not appear on Soviet maps, its existence a secret to most of the population, therefore. The chances of it being discovered by Western Intelligence are slim… It's the perfect place to test some controversial biological weapons.

For many years, Aralsk-7 was part of a national biological weapons program and was used as a testing ground for anthrax, smallpox and even plague, as well as diseases like malaria, brucellosis and typhus, all of which seep into the sandy soil. So it's really no surprise that over the years the island has been implicated in a number of strange incidents.

Aralsk-7 is part of the national biological weapons program.

In 1971, a young scientist fell ill after her research vessel passed through a brown haze near the island. She was diagnosed with smallpox, despite being vaccinated against the disease, and she ended up infecting nine other people, three of whom died. A year later, the bodies of two missing fishermen were found adrift on their boat near the island. They seem to have died from the plague…

Stories of locals casting nets full of dead fish abound in the area around Vozrozhdeniya island and in May 1988, 50,000 saiga antelopes grazing on a nearby savannah died in about an hour. now for mysterious reasons.

Many people are really worried because hundreds of tons of anthrax have been poured here.

The mystery of the terrible biological experiments on the island of Vozrozhdeniya worries everyone, as does the fact that hundreds of tons of anthrax have been poured here. In 1988, the Soviet Union decided that playing with anthrax was a dangerous game, so about 100 to 200 tons of anthrax slurry were dumped in giant pits and forgotten.

The problem with anthrax is that its spores are notoriously difficult to kill and can survive underground for hundreds of years. Bathing in disinfectant and baking at 180 degrees Celsius also did not seem to affect the spores. Worse still, the exact location of the anthrax burial pits was never revealed, but fortunately they were so large that they could be seen from space.

Concerned that anthrax might fall into the hands of terrorists, the US sent experts to Vozrozhdeniya to do some tests. When traces of anthrax were found, the US spent millions of dollars on cleanup. Thousands of kilograms of powerful powdered bleach were used for months by crew in protective gear, and the spores eventually disappeared.

Experts confirm that there is definitely anthrax here.

However, the cleanup did not really end the Vozrozhdeniya threat. Experts say there is certainly still anthrax in and around the dumps, not to mention the burial pits of infected animals, each containing hundreds of corpses, or the unmarked graves of victims. This place still has a lot of big and small threats that need to be avoided at all costs.

Thankfully, Vozrozhdeniya is not the most accessible place in the world. To come to this island, you need a guide, so people are not too afraid to get lost in the land of death. The people living around the island area also know how to stay away from this place.
