Dell & Sony blame each other

Dell's founder and president Michael Dell dismissed reports that Dell's own production method is also a cause for its laptops to burn.

The president of the world's leading computer maker bluntly claimed that Sony must take full responsibility for these incidents.

' We know exactly what the problem is. It is Sony's production line that 'stains' their battery products, ' Michael Dell affirmed to reporters.

The survey results show that Sony batteries contain a very small amount of metal but this is the reason that the battery is hot or ignited.

Picture 1 of Dell & Sony blame each other Dell's founder also completely dismissed Sony's report as saying that the method of integrating batteries into Dell's PC products is also a problem. Dell's production method has made their products more problematic than those of other brands.

' Sony batteries containing impurities are the cause of the problem, not the way we do things with them. We already know for sure that in some cases that battery could burn , 'Michael Dell said.

That's why Dell announced last month to recall more than 4 million batteries used in its laptops. Next, Dell is Apple also has to recall a lot of batteries because of a similar problem. Sony has agreed to help Dell and other companies financially in recovering defective batteries.

Not only Dell and Apple are using Sony's batteries in laptop products, but also Lenovo and some others. But only Dell and Apple have to recover batteries.

Sony's representative still insisted on denying that the company had to take full responsibility for the problem of overheating the battery. ' The main cause is due to configuration. We also use the same battery for the Vaios laptop line but haven't had any problems similar to Dell's. Other computer manufacturers also use our batteries, but they don't have problems like Dell or Apple. We acknowledge that among a number of cases, the amount of metal in the battery can create a closed circuit but the cause is that this is also partly due to the system configuration '.

That's not enough to convince Dell. The company's president said other firms will face similar problems in the future. ' We are only the first to face this problem. There may be more other products facing similar problems like us. I can't predict anything , 'said Alex Gruzen, Dell's product manager.

Jeff Kimble - Dell's director of product marketing on the European market - said Dell was not very proud of the battery recall but was proud of how it responded to the problem.
