Dell launched the first laptop to use AMD chips

Dell has just announced its first notebook to use an AMD processor instead of an Intel chip as it used to.

The Dell Inspiron 1501 offers users the choice of AMD's most popular chips: Sempron, Turion 64 (mobile chip), and Turion 64 X2 dual-core chip.

The Dell Inspiron 1501 is for small businesses, and for home entertainment purposes, with the configuration: Sempron chip, 15.4-inch widescreen display, 80GB hard drive, 512MB memory, and boot price The point is 549USD.

In May 2006, Dell announced it would start selling AMD-based servers after a long period of "loyalty" to Intel chips. At the same time, AMD has gained a lot of market share from Intel with the success of Opteron server chips. In September 2006, Dell began selling PC (desktop) products using AMD chips.
