Detect illegal online activities with new software

US researchers have just created software that can crack code on computer hard drives to find out which websites users have accessed and whether they store any unauthorized data.

This software helps investigators and police identify cybercrime more easily.

"The software on the market today only focuses on extracting the drives, so it does not bring much usefulness in understanding online activities," said Elie Bursztein, research participant . "We have built a tool that is able to replicate the internet addresses users have accessed and determine what they are accessing."

Offline open source software Windows Analysis and Data Extraction (OWADE ), run by Stanford University, California scientists, runs on a Windows operating system capable of decoding files to find inappropriate online activities. France helps investigators and police to identify cybercrime more easily.

Although this is a useful tool for the authorities, with the honest users OWADE does not seem to bring a pleasant and safe feeling.
