Detecting ancient bear fossils in Australia
For the first time, a complete fossil skeleton of giant giant Diprotodon was discovered in Australia by scientists.
The skeleton found in the Carpentaria region of northwestern Queensland, is believed to be the most perfect fossil record ever made of Diprotodon .
Scientists estimate the animal weighs 3 tons and is more than 4 meters long, living in Australia during the period about two million years to 25 thousand years ago, Newstv reported.

Michael Archer, a professor at the Australian National Museum, said: ' What we see here is the largest marsupial that ever existed on earth. A monster weighing three tons '. According to Professor Archer, this fossil specimen could help researchers visualize the shape and size of Diprotodon.
Professor Archer also said that the strange thing about discovering fossils is that the joints are found almost in one place. Therefore, the place where fossils are found is most likely the location of the animal that died 50 thousand years ago.
This giant marsupial bear was once a dominant creature across Australia about 50,000 years ago, at the same time as the indigenous people. This heavy animal eats grass and although there is a large skull frame with many air holes, they are judged to be not very smart.
Before the discovery in Queensland, the most perfect fossil of Diprotodon was just a bone found in New South Wales state. Therefore, paleontologists believe that this new discovery will reveal more interesting things about the mysterious prehistoric animal.
