Detecting flounder containing antibiotics
(Photo: SGGP) The Shanghai City Food and Drug Administration has warned that antibiotics have been found in flounder (a photo), a species that is raised and consumed a lot in China with about 40,000 tons / year.
The results of the test of 30 flounder samples, randomly selected at markets, supermarkets and restaurants, showed that they contained a small amount of AOZ antibiotics, about 1mg / kg. Although the antibiotic content is small, doctors warn, if people eat this flounder for a long time, they will be at risk of health, such as cancer.
In addition to AOZ antibiotics, many other antibiotics are found in flounder. Shanghai city officials say flounder, bred in Shandong Province, has been given antibiotics to boost their immune system, which is very sensitive.
