Development of human body parts in pigs

US scientists are trying to develop human organs inside pigs by injecting human stem cells into pig embryos to produce pig embryos - humans.

The BBC says these embryos are part of a research project to address the shortage of supplies in organ transplants worldwide.

Pig embryos - this person was developed in sows within 28 days before the pregnancy cycle ended and tissues were removed for analysis.

To create an embryo like the above requires 2 stages. First, the team will use CRISPR gene editing technology to remove DNA in a newly fertilized pig embryo.

The team will then inject human pluripotent stem cells (iPS) into the embryo.

The team hopes that human stem cells will take advantage of the gene gaps inside the pig embryo and that this part can be compatible with a patient who needs a transplant.
