Software used in astronomy can help diagnose breast cancer faster
That's the result of a team of astronomers and cancer researchers at Cambridge University (UK).
Pathologist Raza Ali and colleagues studied more than 2,000 cancer test samples. They found an astronomical algorithm system that could process samples in a single day, compared to a week if manually analyzed today.
Researching cancer samples is an important part of treating breast cancer to determine if the tumor is malignant.
Based on the results of this analysis, doctors will determine how to treat patients.
The study was published in the British Journal of Cancer.
