A burial site contains dozens of graves and many artifacts from ancient Roman times accidentally discovered during road construction in a hilly area in the village of Idna , near the Palestinian city of Hebron, AFP yesterday. believe.
The ancient burial site dates back to the first century AD, about 2,000 years ago, when the land was still under Roman rule.
Archaeologists have excavated 32 graves and many remains and pottery artifacts inside an area of about 50 square meters. According to Taleb Jubran, director of the Hebron City Department of Tourism and Antiquities, many artifacts were stolen before the burial site was officially discovered about two weeks ago.
"This discovery is very important in studying and preserving relics from ancient Rome," Jubran said. Local officials hope to turn this ancient tomb into a tourist attraction in the future.
