Discover Mars-3 on Mars

Russian cosmic enthusiasts have reunited efforts in the Internet space and proved that even non-professionals can reveal the mysteries of the universe.

Russian cosmic enthusiasts have reunited efforts in the Internet space and proved that even non-professionals can reveal the mysteries of the universe . Recently, Mr. Vitaly Egorov, who spreads space studies in Russia, discovered the Soviet lander "Mars-3" from Mars images published by NASA (US Space Agency). .

"Mars-3" is an interplanetary auto station that has been launched into space to study the red planet. Mars-3 sailed to Mars in May 1971. The lander successfully landed on the surface of the red planet, but, after 15 seconds, it lost contact with the station. And recently, the space enthusiast group studied images taken by NASA's probe, and discovered the "Mars-3" landing device. In a conversation with Russian Voice reporter Vitaly Yegorov said: 'The search process "Mars-3" was carried out before, but only one umbrella was found because it had a large diameter - about 7 meters. On the surface of the star, Hõa clearly saw very large white spots, easy to see from afar. Our mission is to detect landing modules. The purpose of the search is not just scientific research. I want to draw people's attention to space science, history of conquering space. We want to let everyone understand that today anyone can contribute to the process of studying the universe. "

To discover the module "Mars-3" , Vitaly Yegorov organized a search campaign in the Russian social network. He cut NASA photos into pieces and invited space enthusiasts to help him find "Mars-3" . Each person received a small piece to handle. Vitaly Yegorov said, thanks to the joint effort, the filling station was found. NASA then took more detailed images and confirmed the discovery of Mars-3. Mr. Egorov said: 'Looking at the image, you can see that the landing gear has landed exactly as the Soviet designers expected. Moreover, they had calculated quite accurately the landing position, the mistake was only 3 meters. That was impressive because the calculations were made more than 40 years ago, and Mars-3 flew to a distant planet a few dozen million kilometers from Earth. '

The important discovery in Russia's history of cosmic conquest has promoted space enthusiasts to replicate the Martian landscape on the basis of images that the device "Mars-3" has sent to Earth. Vitaly Yegorov said that the Martian landscape created by those people is quite accurate: 'My discovery motivated many others. Programmer Daniel Tolkachov from Russia's Taganrog city created a three-dimensional map of the surrounding area Mars-3. On that basis, high school senior Artem Zubco has modeled the terrain surface. As a result, we have an image of the Martian landscape through the "eyes" of the "Mars-3" landing station.

In the future, space enthusiasts want to create a special free app for smartphones. Thus everyone will be able to participate in similar aerospace projects.
