The new species was named Macrodaruma brevinaso Consant & Pham, 2014 , belonging to the Macrodaruma genus. To date, only one species of this genus, published in 1978, is Macrodaruma pertinax Fennah.

According to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the species has a body length of 7.7mm. Their heads are usually olive yellow. Their front wings are yellow in semicircular olive, mesh-like ribbed system with longitudinal veins that clearly distinguish and have many horizontal veins. The back wing of the species is brown and the veins are dark, shorter than the front wing; vein-like veins. The legs of the species are long and slender with olive yellow.

With the above findings, the number of species in the Macrodaruma genus is currently two species and are recorded with distribution in Vietnam.
