A group of scientists from Colombia's national university found 13 clusters of a new monkey species in the Caqueta state of Colombia near Peru and scientists named the new monkey Titi Caqueta.

This new monkey, belonging to the monkey family Titi, is only as small as a cat and has grayish-brown fur. They are different from other Titi monkeys that do not have white spots on their foreheads.

Unlike other primates, newly discovered monkeys Titi Caqueta as well as other monkeys belonging to the Titi family have only one sexual partner and they often lay 1 child / year. This monkey's habit is to live in small groups of about 4 individuals.

However, scientists estimate that the newly discovered monkey only has about 250 individuals living in the Amazon rainforest. The deforestation block to get agricultural land and timber has made the habitat of Titi Caqueta monkeys increasingly narrowed.

Dr. Jeffrey French, professor of psychology and biology at the University of Nebraska (USA), who specializes in primates in the Amazon forests of Brazil, said: 'The discovery of this new subspecies It is very important because it proves there may be undiscovered primates in the rainforests. '
