The management board of U Minh Thuong National Park, Kien Giang province, said they have just discovered a precious orchid in this garden.
According to Dr. Thai Thanh Luom, Director of U Minh Thuong National Park, looking at the appearance of this Cymbidium is similar to Cibidum Cymbidium in Bao Loc area (Lam Dong), but its leaves are short and thinner, flower buds are straight up like Cymbidium Tuu Binh.
In particular, the floral texture is almost different from some of the Cymbidiums found so far, but closely resembles the imported rabbit ears orchid. The life of flowers is about 30 days, the flowering period is right and Tet.
In Kien Giang, collectors discovered about 20 species of orchids and Cymbidiums, including some precious species such as Tuu Binh, Ngoc Dien and Giang Huong. They are found in Phu Quoc National Park, Hon Tre Island, Lai Son Island (Kien Hai Island District) and in Ha Tien Town (bordering Cambodia).
