Discover the children who possess the mysterious green skin from Woolpit village

In the book Chronicum Anglicanum ("The Chronicles of England") by Ralph in Coggeshall and the Historia rerum Anglicarum ("History of British incidents") by William of Newburgh, there is an impressive story depicting a the event occurred in Woolpit village in Suffolk county, at some time in the 12th century, King Stephen (1135-54) or King Henry II (1154-1189), depending on the version chosen.

Coggeshall said that he was often told this story from De Calne, an insider, while historian William shared that he believed the story had "a lot of credible witnesses".

Woolpit is named after the word "wulf-pyt t" in ancient English, or "wolf-pit" in modern English, meaning wormholes using wolf traps. The story tells that in one harvest season, two mysterious children, one male and one female, suddenly appeared from one of these holes.

They seem to appear from nothing. They speak an incomprehensible language, wear strange clothes, do not eat or drink, and possess a green skin. Seems like they don't come from this world.

The villagers looked at them as if they had never seen anything like that before. It is understandable because the two children wear clothes with strange materials and possess green skin . No one can communicate with them due to language barrier. Two children were taken home to a local landlord, Sir Richard de Calne.

Feeling strange and isolated from the world around them, they were sad and cried for many days. They refused to eat or drink anything brought, but looked hungry. Only when someone brings "fresh whole beans" will they eat to eat. They only live on beans for months. Later they began to eat bread.

As time went by, the boy's health became increasingly depressed. He surrendered to illness and died. She seemed to adapt better to the surrounding environment.

She lost her blue skin, and became healthy. She learns English to communicate with society. Later, she even married a local man.

Everyone asked her about her past and where she came from, but everything she said only made her identity more mysterious. She said she and her brother came from "a land without sunlight", which is a kind of long twilight. All residents here have blue skin.

She was not sure where her hometown was. However, she remembers that there is another "luminescent" land, separated from her world by a "long river".

It is unclear how these children appeared in the hole.

The young girl said she and her brother are raising her father's cattle, and the cattle go into a cave. They followed them into the cave and heard the bell ringing inside. They wandered in the dark for a long time until they reached the cave and suddenly became dazzled by the maximum light.

Sunlight and abnormal air temperature make them tired so they have to stop for a while. Then they heard a voice, caught a strange group of people, so they fled four feet. However, the two children could not find the cave door, so they were arrested again.

Many explanations have been given to the mysterious identities of the two children.

Some claimed that two immigrant children from Flanders (Belgium) were persecuted. Their parents were murdered and they had to hide in the woods.

This hypothesis can explain the kind of strange costumes they wear on people, but does not explain how they speak a bizarre language. In fact, local people can also recognize if it is Flanders .

Others speculate that the cause of greening may be due to lack of nutrients or arsenic poisoning . There was a case where an uncle conspired to assassinate his grandchild with poison, but this rumor has never been confirmed.

According to other theories, children come from an underground kingdom or another potential space.
