Discover the mysterious tomb on the island of the refugees
During excavation on Guernsey Island, the group of archaeologists discovered a strange tomb dating back 400 years, inside the remains of a man without a hand.
As announced by Live Science, this discovery is at the site of the Guernsey coast - one of the islands of the Channel Islands. Archaeological experts excavated the burial site, including the missing human skeleton.
It is assumed that the dead man who had suffered from a terrible disease is leprosy, so the body lacks hands.
The preliminary hypothesis suggests that the owner of the tomb left bare in the sixteenth or seventeenth centuries. Demonstrating this is the remains of men's clothing found in burial tombs, in particular the buttons.
It is known that the Middle Ages on the island used to have hidden monks. At first, scientists thought that one of them had a permanent rest in the grave. It is assumed that the dead man who suffered from a terrible disease is leprosy. This explains the lack of hands.
However, further investigation revealed that the person in the tomb probably came to the island later, at the time the monks had left the lonely island.
"The presumably more realistic assumption is that this is the body of a drowned man, possibly a sailor, who was thrown to the shore. Probably the local residents have buried this person in the body of the body, corresponding to Christian tradition, " said national expert on the island of Guernsey, Phil de Jersey.
