Discover the world's biggest 'pumpkin' pumpkin
An Englishman has just planted a pumpkin weighing 53kg. This is considered the largest pumpkin in the world at the present time.
Phillip Vowles, 65, who has won the Guinness World Records by owning the world's largest cucumber, now has the opportunity to receive this award with a pumpkin weighing up to 53kg.
Vowles said: "This is the biggest pumpkin I have ever planted. I have to ask my son and calf." Not only heavier than a newborn hippopotamus (which only has a maximum weight of about 55kg), Mr. Vowles' pumpkin is also quite "big" in size with a length of up to 96cm.
About 20 years ago, Mr. Vowles broke the world record when growing a cucumber weighing up to 8.3kg. This record was later broken in 2003 by a cucumber weighing 12.5kg.
