Discovered a 2,500-year-old mummified workshop in Egypt
The mummification workshop dating back more than 2,500 years in Cairo can help us better understand how embalming is.
Ancient mummified workshop was discovered by archaeologists at Saqqara cemetery of Memphis, the first capital of ancient Egypt. Memphis is famous for its many ancient tombs and 3 pyramids of Giza.
The mummification workshop was found at the Saqqara graveyard in the south of Cairo.
The remains were found in the 2,500-year-old mummification workshop in Egypt.
The gold-plated silver mask was found in the ancient mummified workshop.
In the mummification workshop, dating from more than 2,500 years old, archaeologists discovered a large number of pottery, bowls and cups. They can be used to store and dry internal organs from dead bodies. Some cups can be used to contain embalming solutions.
Archaeologists believe their findings could help better understand the oils used in ancient Egyptian marinated processes.
'We are standing in front of the gold mine for information on the compounds of embalming oil , ' said Ramadan expert Hussein, head of the German-Egyptian research group, at a press conference on July 14.
Archaeologists also found remains, gold-plated silver masks in a wooden casket.
The artifacts found under ancient mummified workshop will be displayed at the new Egyptian Museum in the process of construction. The first area of this museum is expected to open later this year.
